ImageStrat sponsors Basins Workshop 2022
October 19, 2022
ImageStrat Pty Ltd is pleased to announce we are sponsoring the 2022 Basins Workshop held at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia this December. This is a great event to discuss geological research in an informal setting and catch up on the latest developments. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Positive comments received from Professor Howard Johnson, Shell Professor of Petroleum Geology, Imperial College London
October 18, 2022
"This is the best example that I have ever seen of the use of borehole image logs in identifying small-scale (mm/cm) sedimentary features. What makes the image log observations so compelling is that they are independently corroborated by abundant legacy core data (ca. 4 km) from equivalent stratigraphic intervals in different, but nearby, wells, Similarly, the borehole image-derived orientation data and facies interpretations are consistent with independently-determined depositional models and palaeogeographic reconstructions.”
Commenting on our 2022 CABS IV presentation entitled "Borehole image features map depositional environment change in a Mesoproterozoic delta: insights from the Beetaloo Sub-basin". See publications or news sections for more information.

Come and see our presentation at CABS IV (Central Australian Basins Symposium) in Darwin on the 29th August
August 22, 2022
Andy Wilson, PhD Wilson will be presenting some of our work on the Moroak Sandstone and the Kyalla Fm. of the Beetaloo Basin at CABS IV (Central Australian Basins Symposium) in Darwin on the 29th August.
What's new:
- delta progradation direction constrained by large palaeocurrent dataset (plus additional trends)
- synaeresis cracks and gutter casts mapped throughout the delta revealing systematic distribution and frequency characteristics related to depositional environment
- detailed facies analysis from six wells (a total of 9226 m at 5 cm resolution) made possible by absence of bioturbation
- distribution and organisation of mass-transport complexes revealed
Come and find out what can be done with detailed image log studies. Extended abstract to follow and journal publication in preparation.
Thanks to our co-authors Brenton Richards, Carl Altmann, and Alexander Côté, CFA, P.Eng, and to Origin Energy and Falcon Oil & Gas for permission to publish. Style of MTD features inspired by Bryan Cronin's work.

EAGE 2021 sponsors recognition
February 21, 2022
Our January 2022 edition of EAGE’s First Break magazine arrived in the post today. It was a nice surprise to see our logo in print again and next to so many other great companies! We sponsored the 1st EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) Workshop on borehole Borehole Geology in Asia Pacific last March.
This year we are taking a different approach to our sponsorship of geoscience events, details to follow soon.

A bit of fun for January
January 19, 2022
Here's a bit of fun for January. We're giving away 30 of these core or macro photo scale marker coins to our Australian-wide geologist friends to celebrate the new year.
Let's face it, most of us don't carry cash but we still carry keys. Add this to your key chain and you'll never be without a handy scale marker. Our logo is a stylised view down a borehole, so it even works as a way-up indicator (geologists know the pain of a photo without way-up or scale indicator!).
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Also works as a trolley coin in place of a $2 coin (AUD).
To get your hands on one simply comment on our Linkedin post telling us why you want one and we'll pick 30 winners on the 1st Feb and mail out your coins to you. Sorry, Australia-based entries only.

Into our 4th year!

Geomechanics services launched
April 27, 2020
Image Strat are pleased to announce the launch of new geomechanics services through our partnership with Bill Power (Power Geoscience Pty Ltd).
The new services extend our existing borehole image log analysis of in-situ stress features to provide:
Vertical stress, pore pressure, and fracture gradient
Full geomechanical model including the in-situ stress tensor, pore pressure, and rock strength estimates
Wellbore planning and stability prediction
Critically Stressed Fracture Analysis
Operators can potentially save money by optimising casing shoe positions and drilling mud weights in order to avoid lost time drilling events, optimising well orientations to minimise instability, or optimising production by intersecting the most favourable fracture orientations.
